84% of the population lives in rural Uganda

Uganda is home to a great wealth of peoples with a history that spans years beyond their colonial period. This breadth has allotted the country with significant level of diversity whose cities have rapidly developed over the years of current president, Yoweri Museveni (born 1944). Coming to power in 1986 after having led the National Resistance Movement against former president, Milton Obote (1966-1971, 1980-1985). Since then, Museveni has brought relative stability to the diverse nation. Allowing for a rapidly growing economy and an improved infrastructure. Uganda has seen a few political shifts during his time in office, namely the abolishment term limits and an age restriction on the presidency (it was formerly capped at 75), both of which were aspects of the constitution.

During his time in office, Museveni has dealt with the challenges of a widely distributed population (84% of Ugandans live rurally) and the threat of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), led by Joseph Kony, which terrorized Northern Uganda for decades (g16, g29 & g48).
