(The top 25 column is excluded here since the AP and UPI polls do not list any teams outside of the top 20.)
Commentary: Four of the top five teams in the polls appeared in the same positions in the final Rewards ranking, with Rewards choosing USC over Alabama as the #1 team (primarily because the Trojans defeated the Crimson Tide 24-14 in mid-season). Four teams in the second ten were further separated in these rankings: Arizona State was ranked about six places higher by Rewards, and UCLA and Missouri were both about seven positions lower than the polls decided, while Texas A&M ranked about nine places lower in the ordering determined by Rewards.
