Standard  M:27 Types of Probability

Introduction:

Standard M:27 explores different types of probability, how the concept of probability occurs in real life, as well as methods of calculating and representing probability figures.

Kindergarten

MK: 27   No MK: 27 at this grade level.

First Grade

M1: 27   For a probability event in which the sample space may or may not contain equally likely outcomes, uses experimental probability to describe the likelihood or chance of an event (using “more likely,” “less likely”).

Second Grade

M2: 27 For a probability event in which the sample space may or may not contain equally likely outcomes, uses experimental probability to describe the likelihood or chance of an event using “more likely,” “less likely,”   “equally likely,” “certain,” or “impossible.”

Third grade

M3: 27 For a probability event in which the sample space may or may not contain equally likely outcomes,  determines the likelihood of the occurrence of an event (using “more likely,” “less likely,” or “equally likely”).M(DSP)–3–5

Fourth Grade

M4: 27 For a probability event in which the sample space may or may not contain equally likely outcomes, determines the theoretical probability of an event and expresses the result as part to whole (e.g., two out of five). M(DSP)–4–5

Fifth grade

MM5: 27 For a probability event in which the sample space may or may not contain equally likely outcomes,  determines the experimental or theoretical probability of an event and expresses the result as a fraction. M(DSP)–5–5
