How Brain Research Can Change Schools: A Holistic Perspective on Neuroscience, Teaching and Learning By Dr. Samuel Crowell
Monday, Oct. 26, 7 PM in the Farrell Room, Saint Michael's College This presentation draws on research and ideas from neuroscience and cognition to address questions of educational transformation and holistic learning as embodied, embedded, enacted and extended. Dr. Sam Crowell is currently Professor of Education at California State University and is a director of the Center for Holistic and Integrative Learning. He has co-authored several books and chapters on Brain-Based Learning and served as a consultant to schools and districts throughout the country on topics such as school reform, brain research, holistic education, and integrative, trans-disciplinary curriculum. Dr. Crowell is also actively engaged with Education For Sustainable Development. He is an affiliate of the International Center for the Earth Charter Initiative. Sam’s work in this area is in helping schools develop new pedagogical approaches and institutional cultures that reflect these deep commitments.
