Newspaper Searching Assignment - LS101  - Due next tuesday

This is not an easy to use interface, but not too hard with practice. Excellent source for newspapers, law, business, etc.  Use this assignment to explore topics you might be interested in.

1. Click on the Source link.   Bring up the New York Times

5. Choose a company, (any company) and pretend you are going for a job interview.  Use different sources in  Business file to find background information to help in your interview.  A very good source for this kind of research is Hoovers

Give company president, number of employees, who was the founder, etc  (also - give the source you got the information)

6. Go to REFERENCE on the left Column

Choose Polls & Surveys

Roper Center for Public Opinion Research Tips

Specify a keyword to search full text, or limit your search to a particular question. Only opinion polls that match all the criteria you enter will be found.

Name one  Journal in this database that would be useful for getting news on Native American issues?  On Hispanic Issues? 

 

9.  Find an article on outsourcing jobs.  Can you find an article written from an India (country) perspective?  Give the journal name article title and describe the search you used to find it.

 

10. Go back to the opening screen for Ethnic Newswatch - find a Spanish language article on any topic and give the name of the journal
