Dyad, Cycle 2:  Perception Sharing Exercise

This exercise gives members written feedback from other members.
Use it only in a group where people are ready to get true, unvarnished messages about themselves from other people.

1)     Make a table consisting of three columns, with the names of participants as the left column.

2)     Have each participant write brief feedback points to each other participant.  Areas for improvement (negative points) should be expressed in terms of behavior that a person can change.  If the participant wants to write longer feedback, they may write a memo, but the exercise only requires brief statements.

3)     Print the feedback points on paper.  Each participant then cuts the paper with scissors widthwise so that each recipient’s name and positive and improvement points remain on one strip of paper.
In class make a pile for each recipient; collect all of the comments for each person.

4)     Give the person the comments and give them time to read them.
(If time permits and the atmosphere is right, they may want to react to the comments, but don’t force anyone to say anything.)
