Ben Witherington III is an evangelical, prolific, and first rate scholar. He takes a forceful position against those who make excessive claims for this Gospel of Judas and for other apocryphal gospels. He says the baloney meter is high on this one. Questions, objections, and other claims follow his presentation to which he responds. .

Bruce Chilton is a well known NT scholar. He calls attention to the sensationalism and the omissions associated with this project. Why did National Geographic not call upon some experts in this field such as James Robinson? He points out the questionable and un-scholarly aspects to this project.

National Geographic Magazine will be issuing a new version correcting its earlier mistaken translation and interpretation (according to the Birger A Pearson article cited above), a mistaken interpretation followed by Elaine Pagels and Karen King in their book Reading Judas.
