Lab Guide The audio and living labs are an essential part of developing the oral and listening proficiency you need to be successful in FR 110. Audio Labs A udio labs. All audio labs for Chez Nous, 2nd edition are now accessible through digital audio files on your SMC computer. In order to access these files, you need to complete a set-up procedure. Follow the directions on the included “How to Access the Digital Audio” sheet to create a connection for yourself to the Chez Nous audio files. Once you have completed the set-up procedure, you will have an icon on your desktop for digital audio, and you can complete your lab assignments from any SMC computer. You will need either speakers or head phones to listen to lab assignments. Head phones are available at the Language Laboratory in St. Edmunds 215. If you have questions about setting up your connection to digital audio or experience problems with the audio files during the semester, call the language lab for assistance.Audio labs provide excellent preparation for chapter tests, which will follow much the same format. Please have them completed on time. You will receive a listening comprehension/writing grade for your lab efforts. How to go about it On your syllabus you will find a due date for each section of lab exercises. Lab exercises will be collected on that day. Use your Workbook/Lab Manual as well as your textbook. The "Points de Départ" section of the lab often refers to text, dialogue and pronunciation explanations in the textbook. Dont be shy about speaking aloud when the cassette asks you to. It is one of the best preparations for the skills you need. Other exercises are written in the spaces provided in the Lab Manual section in the second half of the workbook. You will be graded on exercises from the "Mise en pratique" section. There are also vocabulary cassettes available in the lab. On these you will hear the vocabulary expressions found on the pages at the end of each chapter. You should use them regularly to review phrases and practice pronunciation. Labo Vivant Labo
