Required for the French Major (minimum 33 credits):

FR 201*
FR 202*
FR 243*
Composition et grammaire (4 credits)
Conversation avancée (5 credits)
Études littéraires (4 credits)
and choose:

at least 21 additional credits in French at the 201 level or above; among these may be included ALC credits earned in French.  Majors are required to take at least two courses at the 300-400 level, not counting Senior Seminar, here at Saint Michael's College.

*The sequence of the 201, 202, 243 courses is recommended but not required.

Required for the French Minor:

Minimum of 20 credits at the 201 level or above (courses must be taught in French);
among these may be included ALC credits earned in French.  At least two of these courses must be taken here at Saint Michael's College.

 

It is recommended that all majors and minors
study at least one semester or summer
in a French-speaking country.

*if the course is offered in French, it may be applied to major/minor credit; if the course is offered in English, an ALC will be available in French.
