Visual Think Sink Spotlight & Critique Questions
Track down one visual/screen example that you think represents the very BEST of what our recent web screen landscape has to offer. Look hard. Don't settle on something just because it is familiar or because it is popular. Think quality, innovation, and the best of our human creative spirits.

Email me a copy of the link the day before class, and turn in a write up on the following questions the day you present in class.

What makes the clip you’ve chosen unique, different, innovative, interesting and/or the "best" with respect to:

· Creative/Conceptual Artistry?
· Social, political, or cultural commentary?
· Visuals (perspective, effects, composition)?
· Editing (pace, rhythm, juxtaposition)?
· Audio (music, dialogue, fx sounds, etc.)?
· Metaphor?
· Cultural or societal references/allusions?
· Does it reference or mimic other works (technique, content)?
· Emotion? Introspection? Humor? Sadness? Joy? Anger?
· Purpose/Context. Was there a particular purpose or context for the clip you chose?
Question 2: What genre does this clip fall into? What other types of similar or related productions have been done on the topic or using a similar style or set of techniques? What makes this piece stand out within the larger array of similar projects?
Question 3: Who is the producer behind this creation? What's their background? Contact them. What do they have to say about why they have made this particular production (or others)? How did they go about it (techniques)? What were their motivations? What kinds of reception or results has this project led to?
Question 4: What lures you in to watch this piece more than once (or perhaps many times)? What are the personal as well as cultural types of connections that it invokes?
Question 5: Related Clips/Series and comments. Are there any interesting related clips that were associated with or suggested to viewers along with this piece? Was the clip you chose part of a series? Are there any interesting viewer comments related to the piece you’ve chosen? What are they and what do they add?
