Second Language Proficiency

  Why Study Language?

Regardless of your major in college or your career choices after college, you will find that your ability to use a second language and to know and appreciate another culture will be very valuable to you.

Language study can open up career opportunities in the United States and abroad, improve your overall communication skills and cultural understanding, and help you to better understand and master the structures and skills of your own native language. In addition, students find that they are better able to reinforce and further their knowledge of other disciplines through the second language they study.  Thus, regardless of the reason for study, second languages have something to offer everyone.
