Freud and the psychology of the unconscious
At this point we must take a detour back in time. Parallel with the events we have discussed so far, Sigmund Freud and his followers were developing psychoanalytic theory. This theory was outside of the field of psychology, but eventually had a tremendous impact on both the field and on society.
