Required
outside the Journalism Major
All JO&MC majors are required complete either
a MINOR or an 18 credit "specialization"
outside the JO&MC Department. This requirement is specifically
designed to assist our majors in developing areas of expertise
outside of journalism. Students may complete a formal minor
in another department, or they may create a self-designed
"specialization" consisting of a minimum of 18 credits
chosen in consultation with a faculty adviser. Our students
frequently elect to do minors in the following areas: Global
Studies, English, Political Science, Economics, Sociology,
International Business, Art, Philosophy, Music, Theater, French
and Spanish.
INTERNATIONAL
STUDY ABROAD EXPERIENCE
An international study abroad experience is HIGHLY recommended
for the JO&MC major. Students generally study abroad during
their sophomore (spring) or junior year (fall or spring).
