Our
graduates enter the marketplace skilled in writing, reporting,
editing, digital imaging, web design, photography, and interactive
design. Because our students gain a great deal of critical and
practical experience, they graduate with a portfolio that offers
future employers strong evidence of their critical and professional
skills and knowledge. Our students have gone on to careers in
law, political consulting, film, reporting, international relations,
web design, television, radio, music promotion, advertising, marketing,
advertising, and public relations.
Recent graduates have secured positions at ESPN, ABC’s 20/20,
NBC, America Online, Lycos, MacroMedia, USA Today, ABC.com, The
New England Sports Network (NESN), The National Hockey League,
National Public Radio,, and a wide variety of public relations,
web design, and other media organizations throughout the U.S.
Additionally, The Vermont Press Association, with its headquarters
in our department, provides a vital link to area newspapers and
media producers.

Schools
Our
Department offers more than professional training. Our emphasis
on media criticism, global communication, media and politics prepares
students to take an intellectual approach to the mass media, both
as producers and as critical readers and viewers. Our graduates
have gone on to pursue advanced degrees at a wide range of schools
such as Georgetown, Northwestern, Penn State, Simon and Fraser,
Univerisity of Wisconsin, and the University of Southern California.
