391. The topics for the exam are: 7.2, 7.3, 2.3 and 2.4 Please
note: To do problems in 7.3 you will need to know about transition matrices
and related information from 7.1.
project is due April 7th. You will need to turn in:
1) Final matrix (with 0's and 1's)
2)A list of operations you did to solve the
matrix using the Gauss-Jordan Method
3)Work you did (with calculator) to check
exams are graded. Please pick them up in my office, if you were not in class on Monday.
Also, pickup any homework and projects that are sitting in bins in my office.
arrive at 8:15 to begin the exam on Friday, March 24, if you wish to have extra time for
the test. The exam is a big shorter than the previous evening exam, so you should have
plenty of time.

Q: "Are matrices on the
exam?" A: Yes. The exam will cover Sections 7.0,7.1 and 7.2 up to
#48. Matrix multiplication, identity matrices, transition matrices, etc. are covered in
these sections and you are responsible for this material. In 7.2, you will be
responsible for solving a system of equations using the elimination/substitution method.
You are NOT yet responsible for material on the Gauss-Jordan method (i.e. 7.2 #33,37,45)
Q: "Do I need to be able use the
elimination/substitution method to solve a system of three equations in three unknowns?
A: No. The homework only focuses on using the elimination/substitution method to
solve a system of two equations in 2 unknowns.

accurate information about any computer problems related to this class. If you

2. What computer you were using (at least which lab, but better if you can
identify the computer).

||The amortization schedule project
is due Friday, Feb. 25. Also, although the car project isn't due until March,
because of break, this coming weekend may be the only weekend you can get your group
together. You should try to get the car project done by Monday!
||Hour test reminder. There
is an hour test Thursday, Feb 17, from 6:00 to 7:00 in JEM 391. The test will cover at
least 5.1 through 5.3, and possibly some of 5.4. If you have a schedule
conflict, you must make alternative arrangements with me by Monday at the latest.
You may make one sheet of notes, front and back, to use on the test.

||Help sessions have been moved
permanently to STE 105. They still are from 7:30 to 9:00 Monday through Thursday.
||I have re-posted the credit card
project. However, there are hard copies of the credit card project in a manilla
envelop outside my office door if you are unable to get a copy from the website.
Please let me know about any downloading problems.
||The credit card project has been
posted (click on "Projects" above). It is a group project and is due
Friday, Feb. 4.
||There is an error in the
"grading" break down on the hardcopy of the first day hand out (a carry over
from another semester). I have corrected it on the website version. The actual
grading breakdown for this class is:
homework5%, Hour test average--45%, group projects--20%, final exam--30%.
the week of 1/24 only will be in STE 105 instead of 106.
There will be
no class on Wed., 1/18 and Fri., 1/20. The hour tests will be in the evenings, from
6:00 to 7:00 to make up for this.
