Review Study Problem Sets

General Information:

Homework, whether study or challenge problems,  must conform to the following:

  1. Your name and class (e.g. section F) in the upper right hand corner of each   page.
  2. Stapled (not  folded or paper-clipped) in the upper left hand corner.
  3. Problems and sections in order, with answers checked.
  4. Problems neatly done, no scratch-outs, with all work shown!   No credit for answers only.
  5. Writing on one side of paper only.

Homework will be accepted early, but never late.

Note:  "eoo" stands for "every other odd", and means to do every other odd problem in the range specified.

Reviews--please see me asap with any questions on the material in the appendices.  An online source for precalc basics is http://www.purplemath.com/index.htm, and see a previous calc I class on my main website for a review of calc I material .

Study Problem Sets:

Read each section before  it is covered in class and note definitions, theorems, vocabulary and formulas. Review in-class demonstrations and experiment with any interactive tools.

You are responsible for having done the homework problems after each section had been discussed in class and before the next class period. It is very important that each exercise is done correctly !  Incorrect exercises don't help anyone very much. You can look in the back of the book, in the solution manual (on reserve at the library), you can compare answers with others in your study group or class, you can ask at the help session, you can come to my office hours---you should ultimately be able to solve every problem perfectly. Be careful to do each type of problem until you can do it without help or looking anything up in the book since you will not be able to use the book on the quizzes.

NOTE:  Some of the problems have a little graph icon next to them in the text--this means that you must use Maple to do the problem.  Full credit will NOT be given for homeworks without the Maple component.
