Faculty Regulations
Statement:
1. The committee shall consider
the College's use of emerging technologies as they relate to student
learning and the teaching and scholarship of the faculty. It shall
also provide such oversight in areas of established educational
technologies such as language laboratories and audio-visual resources.
It will promote, coordinate, and assist faculty efforts to explore and use
these technologies in teaching and research. It will participate in
the planning, acquisition, and development of the hardware and software
infrastructure needed for these efforts as well as in the making of
policies for their use. It will make recommendations on these
matters to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
2. The Educational Technology
Committee shall consist of four representatives of the faculty appointed
for two-year terms. The Director of Library and Information
Services, and the Director of Information Technology, or their designates,
will also be ex officio members.
Interpretation of the
Mission for 2003-2004
Given the dynamic nature of technology
and education, EdTech will evaluate the committee's focus each year based
on the current events and context of the college's situation. The
committee will give particular attention to current technology scenarios
that are relevant to that year. However, the committee will operate
under the influence of the college's overarching mission, that of a
residential, liberal arts college. Furthermore, the committee
shall seek to establish a philosophy of how it will "promote, coordinate,
and assist faculty efforts to explore and use these technologies in
teaching and research." |
