Minutes – February 1st

Brown Bag Lunch

  • March 1st from 12:00-1:00
  • Richard Kujawa will speak about his work creating an asynchronous unit to be delivered via eCollege or his web site
  • Mike will reserve a room
  • John Devlin will handle publicity
  • We will discuss refreshments at our next meeting
  • There will be a faculty showcase that day at 4:00 (Dan Evans SIS)

Updates

  • The proposal for an adjunct technology workshop (two days the week of Spring Break) has been approved by the Provost. 
  • Sue Breeyear will send out an advertisement through campus mail
  • She will also send email to chairs of departments that hire adjuncts

Possible Agenda Items for This Semester

  • Clarifying the mission
    • What role should we play in the ongoing discussions of copyright use and the update of the college intellectual property policy?
    • Since eCollege tends to part of these conversations some questions have been forwarded to this committee
    • Mike represents Ed Tech on the Tech Steering committee where these issues have been discussed
    • Copyright use policy committee – Joanne Schneider, Bill Anderson, Christine Bauer-Ramazini (They would be happy to have others sign up.)
  • Bill should be able to discuss the budget at the meeting (Feb. 15th)
    • The trustees approved the budget assumptions
    • Mike will forward the corresponding materials
  • Email policy
  • Operating System Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Mike McGrath’s gift in support of faculty development contained language supporting the use of technology
    • eCollege training might be one example here
  • Should we update the content of the Ed Tech page
    • Currently serves as a repository for minutes & proposals
    • Should we also look to collect / provide other useful technology resources (similar to the grant resources on the faculty development page)
      • Link to lab/technology classroom availability schedule (John will send this to Greta)
      • Instructions for linking to databases (Steve will send this to Greta)
