Attending: Mike Battig, David Boynton, Nick Clary, Mark Lubkowitz

ad officio members: Joanna Ellis-Monaghan, Bill Anderson, Steve Burks, Susan Breeyear, and Joanne Snyder

1. Mark Lubkowitz was appointed scribe for Sept. 2nd 2003 meeting.

Mike Battig was chosen to be the chair by the committee.

2. The “End of the year report” from Ed Tech was approved unanimously.

3. The committee’s BIG project for this fall consists of reporting/ synthesizing the results from our e-learning studies.

To begin this process Joanna Ellis Monaghan shared her lessons from her e-class this past summer.  Joanna had three majors pts.

1)      Course preparation was a large amount of work

2)      Course material developed one year may be obsolete by the next iteration simply because of changes in support software.

3)      Technology should be used to fill a pedagogical need

Steve Burks participated in one of the summer courses and felt that the course felt too much like a self taught course.

4. To complete a more formal survey of our e-learning experiment, the committee is going to request that all participants place their evaluations in an Excel spreadsheet and provide a two page summary of their experience.

5.  Next meeting time is Tuesday Sept. 9th.  Sue and Nick will provide an update on the Laptop workshops.
