EdTech Minutes for Thursday, 1 April 2004

Agenda:

 

  1. Minutes of the last meeting (25 Mar 2004), previously distributed, were approved as submitted; David Boynton was appointed scribe for today’s meeting.

 

2.   Bill discussed the approved Phase I of the Design for Learning Renovation of Jeanmarie Hall (East Wing. This phase of the renovation will occur in Fiscal Year 2004-2005 and will involve the resolution of issues involving air handling and acoustics in existing classroom/lab spaces in JEM; the expansion and renovation of classroom space on the second floor of JEM; wiring and network connectivity for new technology and pedagogy; and a new faculty lounge. Changes in building infrastructure for the building (all floors) include central air handling, sealing of windows, installing acoustic barriers facing Route 15, and structural changes on the second and third floors. The net gain will include 4 new classroom spaces in JEM, 2 labs relocated from STE, environmental improvements, and a larger faculty lounge. Current bottom line for Phase I: 1,320,000. The budget will have to be re-evaluated for Phase II.

 

  1. Today’s TRC-EdTech brownbag lunch on laptop workshops went well. Jeff Adams and Anne McConnell spoke on their impressions of the Faculty Summer Laptop Workshop. The members of the committee thought that the presentations were very user-friendly and informative. However, there was general agreement that the refreshments were inferior.
