Gwenyth King Brown was born in Wales and became a naturalized citizen of the United States. She was married to Joe Brown, who was a photographer. Her works were donated to Saint Michael's College by the Joe Brown Foundation in 1991. Most of her works feature dancers and winter scenes. Saint Michael's College also owns Brown's Drawings About War series. This series was created in 1960 and was displayed as an exhibit originally during the time of the Vietnam War. After the series was donated to the college, Saint Michael's displayed the prints at the start of both the Gulf and Iraq Wars. A catalogue of her 1976 exhibit at Princeton was published by the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom with a forward from Pearl S. Buck.
