Getting around with the Adobe Acrobat Viewer
Topics:
Note: When you load a Furness file, it will be viewed within your web browser.
Only now, a tool bar will appear right below the Web Address window.
Printing
- Print only to DR148 (Downstairs Library), DRCIRCUL
(Library circulation) desk, or JEM 166 printers.
- Click on either the PRINT icon on the TOOLBAR (left
side of the screen) or select PRINT from under the FILE window.
- A dialogue box will appear which will identify which
printer will receive the job, print quality and print range. In the print range box, specify
which page or pages you wish to print. If you wish to print just the displayed page,
select Current Page. Please note that page numbers in Furness do not
correspond with the page numbers that Adobe viewer uses. When specifying pages to print,
use the page numbers that are found on the bottom left side of the screen in the Adobe
viewer, NOT the numbers in Furness.
- Click OK.
- Follow printing progress in the dialogue box on your
screen or in the print queue. Printing Adobe .pdf files is very slow. Do not click print
again when pages do not spew out immediately.
- Printing a single page takes approximately 30
seconds. However, printing time will be expanded during slow network periods and
when printing multiple pages at a time. When at all possible, print only 1-3
pages at a time.
Please note that clicking on the Print icon of the
toolbar that is on the right side of the window, the one that says "Print" under
it, often generates a blank page with the title and address printed at the top and bottom
of each page.

Enlarging/Decreasing Text
- To increase the text size, click on the magnifying glass box on the bottom left hand
side of the screen. Here you can select to enlarge or decrase the size of the text
by simply selecting a percent size change from the pop up (downward pointing arrow)
menu.
- You can also type in the desired percent magnification in the pop up menu (i.e. 200, 50,
325).

move through Furness you can:
- Click the up and down arrows on the right hand of the screen. You can move from
page to page with this command.
- Select the "hand" icon from the tool bar below the Address window; move the
hand cursor over text, click the left button on the mouse and move the mouse in the up or
down direction. (This command will only let you move throughout the displayed page.)
- Select the "Left triangle" icon from the tool bar to view the previous page in
sequential order. Select the "Right triangle" icon from the icon bar to
view the next page in sequential order.
- Select the "Double left triangle" icon from the tool bar to advance to the
first page of the document. Select the "Double right triangle" icon to
advance to the last page of the document.
