Discussion Topics:
1. Tell a folktale (or talk about a song, a work of art, or something similar) that is well-known/representative of your culture.
2. Discuss your culture's views toward these elements of culture:
o work
o dress
o hygiene
o courtship
o sex
o status
3. Discuss American cultural perceptions of color. What do American associate with the colors black, yellow, white, blue, red, and green. Then discuss the associations of the non-American cultures.
4. Discuss
o Why do cultural patterns change over time?
o What patterns tend to be relatively stable?
o Do cultural patterns change faster in the U.S. than in some other cultures? Why?
