Word Processing: ESL Exercise # 2

PARAGRAPH WRITING

During this exercise you will practice:

Word Processing English language skills
1. Spacing 1. Creation of a coherent paragraph, given a focused topic sentence to work with
2. Boldfacing 2. Proper paragraph form, including indentation of first word.
3. Underlining  
4. Using the TAB key for indenting  

Directions: Please open up a composition you have written in Word.  To receive credit, this composition must have:

1. A title that is CENTERED and boldfaced.
2. DOUBLE-SPACING throughout.
3. Your name and the date in the upper left-hand corner.  Both should be boldfaced.

Note: Remember that the first sentence in every paragraph must be indented. Use the TAB key on the keyboard to do so.

1.  Centering: Using the CENTER icon from the toolbar

Before you type your title, point your mouse to all the icons on the toolbar and click on the Center icon.

2.  Boldfacing:

Click the B on the toolbar before you begin the word. Bolded words will appear in darker letters on the screen. Click the B again to end bolding.

Start your paragraph below the line. Print on a separate page when finished. (Move the composition to the top of Pg 2. To print, click File, Print and Current Page.).
