What has your Saint Michael's experience,
particularly your experience as a biology major, been like?
My experience as a Biology major at Saint
Michaels College has been both challenging and enjoyable. The
professors expose students to a wealth of scientific facts and
theories through lecture, discussion, and laboratory formats. I feel
as though I have learned a lot of important information here, but I
was forced to apply this information in new and practical manners. I
consider this to be the root of a strong biological education, and
it will provide me with the necessary skills in order to pursue a
successful future in the scientific community.
What additional activities did you pursue
related to the biology major?
As a student in Genetics, I became very
interested in a phenomenon known as Transcription Associated
Mutation (TAM). Due to the intimate classroom setting provided by
Saint Michaels College, I was able to pursue my interest and
conduct laboratory research with Professor Lippert and a fellow
student, Samantha Hidy. This research has provided me with the
experience of applying all of my knowledge gained at Saint Michaels
College collectively, in order to further my understanding and to
produce a finished product.
What are your post-graduate plans?
I am currently studying for the MCAT, which I
plan to take in July. I hope to be enrolled in a Medical School for
2011. Until then, I will be working as an orderly at Holyoke Medical
Center, close to my home in Massachusetts.
