Materials:
* Paper
* Clipboard
* Copy of the Questions
* Pencil and Markers

Activities:

1. Answer the following questions
Have you ever seen a tree like this?
What color are the leaves?
What does the bark feel like, is it rough or smooth?
What size is the tree, is it the same size as you are or is it bigger?
How many branches does the tree have?
How many leaves does the tree have, a few or a lot?

2. Draw a picture of the tree, use your answers above to help
3. Trace a leaf and color it
4. Draw a sample of what the bark looks like on the backside of the paper
5. Write down three things you have learned about The American Beech Nut
6. Create an acrostic poem like the sample one at the top of the page-

Together come up with words that describe trees using the letters in the word tree, T, R, E and E. Next, Create the poem. (Hint: Think of descriptive words such as tall, rough, etc.)
