* Measuring Tape
* Pencil
* Your Best Math Skills

Activity:

Look at your shadow

Take measuring tape and measure your shadow from your feet to the top of your head

Find the shadow of the silver maple tree

Measure the shadow of the tree from the bottom of the trunk until you reach the very top of the tree

The tree’s shadow is _____ ft.

Whose Shadow is bigger and by how much? (Hint: use your subtraction skills)

The bigger shadow was __________, by ______ ft.

After:

Math challenge, convert the number of feet you shadow is into inches, then convert the trees, how many inches taller was the tree’s shadow? (Hint: There are 12 inches in 1 foot)
