I. Anticipation. First of all, try to anticipate the kind of vocabulary you might expect to find on this site. Bombardier is a multinational firm, and this is its corporate Web site. What terms have you been using in the International Finance course that might turn up? Skim the three pages we will discuss quite rapidly, and try to find possible equivalents for some of the terms in the list below..

You may go to two of the three from the main page [Bombardier / Menu principal]. These are the three you should skim (clicking first on "Français," then on "A propos de nous" at the bottom left of the screen, then on "Mission..." and "Historique,"for the first two):

II. Discussion. Now read the three pages more attentively, but still skimming in some places, looking for information you can use to discuss the following questions. Make notes, on your printout or elsewhere, so that you can contribute to the discussion on Friday. You may consult a short vocabulary list for definitions or translations of some useful terms. Don’t forget to consult the list you made above, as well.

3. A quelle époque la société Bombardier est-elle devenue une multinationale? Qu’est-ce qui vous l’indique?

4. Quelle société Bombardier a-t-il acquise en décembre 1997?

5. Dans quelles régions du monde la société exploite-t-elle son entreprise?

6. De quelles façons semble-t-il plus pratique, plus avantageux, que Bombardier soit une multimationale? Donnez des exemples pour illustrer votre explication.
