Above is an altar dedicated to Oba, the Benin king.  Although this shows the honoring of a King there were similar altars dedicated to the Queen Mother.  Each altar had a Oba or Iyoba head as well as elephant husks with royal husks carved with symbols representing the reign of the King and life of the Queen Mother. On each side of the altar you can see a Oba head with elephant tusks coming out from the top of the head. (4)
