Music
| Music is a key part in initiations to Mami Wata. Music plays a role in dances and rituals. "Mammy Wata provides a locus for contemporary local concerns and an impetus for lyrical expression and visual imagery. The Edo musician Sir Victor Uwaifo's highlife song which beings 'If you see Mammy Wata O! never you run away" is a concrete example of Mammy Wata used in a popular way, through a musical genre, to describe the lures and attractions of urban life (Article 3).)

"Oh queen, queen of water, our mother, you
bring us luck–we greet
you. You give us charm. Thank you. Thank you. You who are so
beautiful, give us your protection; give us our children, give us our
wealth (Book
