Death is a fact of life for all of us, but the ways in which it is viewed and dealt with in a society are extremely varying and revealing.  In the traditional cultures of Western Africa, death is viewed as more of a starting point than an end; it is-quite practically-part of an eternal cycle, and this belief is reflected and echoed in the cultural art and rituals.
