Inscribed spaces focus on how people attach meaning to space, and transform space using their own traditional methods and beliefs. “Beliefs about the wilderness are reflected upon in many African systems of thought and them expressed in social action: in art, in ritual performances, in language, and even in the organization of space” (I). Many times African societies are classified according to three broad economic categories: agriculturalists, pastoral nomads, and hunter gatherers. Baule are primarily pastoral.
