ORDER: Ephemeroptera
FAMILY: Leptophlebiidae
GENUS: Habrophlebia

Leptophlebiidae are characterized by their gill shape. Unlike the round or heart-shaped gills of other maylifes, Leptophlebiidae have forked, tufted, or fringed gills. Habrophlebia have abdominal gills 2-7 with clusters of slender filaments. They look similar to the Paraleptophlebia but differ in labrum wideness; Habrophlebia  have a wider labrum than Paraleptophlebia.
